Save SouthEast Asian Elephants
The Elephants Umbrella Fund is in the process of saving elephants that are endangered in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Sri Lanka. We have saved 11 elephants thus far and have them safely being taken care of in sanctuaries. The Elephants Umbrella Fund is based in Santa Barbara California, founded 4 years ago. The president of the fund travels 2 times a year to SE Asia to visit our elephants and determine some of the other ways we can help the elephants and the sanctuaries that are welcoming these injured elephants in their herds. Most people don't realize that when you rescue an elephant you are helping the mahout family as well since the mahout stays with his elephant. I have seen the elephants that beg on the streets of Bangkok and hope that comes to an end it is hard on the elephants, they are young and have to travel every evening on hot pavement to the area where they are expected to beg. The street elephants don't have a very healthy diet as well, mostly banana and sugar cane. Elephants are such loving animals and have feelings just like humans. They grieve when a member of their family has died and lovingly take care of their young ones. We have just welcomed a new baby to one of our first rescued females. Every new baby helps to add to the life of the Asian Elephant. They are becoming extinct to the point that they may be gone within 50 years. It would be a shame for our future generations not to experience the Asian Elephant. Check out our website for more information and find out how you can help. http://www.elephantsumbrella.org/
